SIT Intervention

What is SIT?

Student Intervention Teacher is a school based program made up of support teachers who work with classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop individualized strategies to help students who are experiencing challenged in school.

How do students receive SIT Intervention:

  • Identification: A student is referred to the SIT team based on academic concerns observed by teachers or parents.
  • Team Meeting: The SIT Team and RTI (Response to Intervention) Team meets to review:
  1.  Student strengths
  2. Assessment data and classroom performance
  3. Specific concerns
  4. Input from teachers and parents

Action Plan Created:

The team develops an intervention plan with targeted strategies and supports to help the student. This may include:

  • Small group instruction
  • Academic interventions
  • Accommodations in the classroom

Implementation & Monitoring:

  • The plan is put into action for a set period (usually 6-8 weeks) and student progress is monitored regularly.

Follow-Up Meeting:

The SIT teachers and RTI Team meets again to review progress. Based on the results, the plan may be:

  • Continued or adjusted
  • Expanded with new supports
  • Referred for further evaluation, if necessary
